Lead Automation Engineer

Pavol has been a member of the ISA Water/Wastewater Division since joining the ISA in 2007. He currently works at HDR, Inc. as Lead Automation Engineer in Raleigh, North Carolina office where he is part of their Process Automation Program group .  He currently serves as the ISA Tarheel Capital Area section treasurer and the 2016 & 2017 General Symposium Chair for Water/Wastewater Industry Division.

Soon after receiving his M.Sc. in Automation and Controls Systems, he started his career as a software engineer for Juvier s.r.o in Europe. While at Juvier, he was involved with development of several mobile manipulators/robots used during the construction process of the Large Hadron Collider which is now the world’s largest particle accelerator. After finishing his portion of the project, he moved to the USA in 2004 where he worked as project engineer with CITI, LLC for several years.  In 2007 he joined Brown and Caldwell in their Raleigh-Durham office as a senior automation engineer.

In 2015, Pavol has been given an opportunity to lead the Process Automation Group for HDR, Inc. Pavol is involved with the design, specification and startup of plant instrumentation including Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming, SCADA development and on-site construction support and inspections. He has worked on all phases of large and small projects from pre-design to the final commissioning of electrical and control systems for water, wastewater and pump station facilities. He also provides project management, consulting services, support for completed projects as well as troubleshooting services to resolve issues in established plants.

He is a current member of the ISA99 (IEC 62443), ISA101 and ISA111  committees related to Cybersecurity, HMI, testing, automation, and alarming. Pavol was elected as the general symposium chair for the 2016 and 2017 WWAC Symposia. He looks forward to his role as General Symposium Chair and Director-Elect of ISA Water/Wastewater Industry Division.
